Lost everything? Here's what actually happens
If you have lost all your Tramplers and your resources, the official answer is short and not comforting: start a new character, or join a crew that owns a Trampler. There is no stated safety net.
Correct as of Update #6 · 2026-08-03
A player who has lost all Tramplers and resources recovers bycreating a new character or joining a crew that owns a Trampler. No compensation, insurance or starter-Trampler mechanic is documented.
Confirmed on a first-party surface — the developer’s Steam announcements or the publisher’s support site.
Which of the two you actually want
Join a crew, if you have anyone to join. It is the only option that does not cost you your Tech Tree progress. A new character starts its inventory and Tech Tree from zero, because both are tied to the character rather than your account — see region and character progression for why.
One thing does survive either route: blueprints from the Trampler Editor are shared across characters. So your designs are intact even when everything else is gone. That is small comfort, but it means a new character is a resource restart rather than a design restart.
Before you assume it is your fault
Some losses are the game's documented bugs rather than your mistake. A blueprint that cannot be deleted, crafting that does not work correctly on islands, items displayed inside your character's body — those are on the publisher's own open-issues list as of 2026-08-04. If what happened to you looks like one of those, it is worth checkingthe known-issues list before you write off the run.
And if a character or its contents vanished rather than being lost in a raid, that is a different problem with a different route: the publisher has a support article specifically for lost or deleted characters, which implies those cases get looked at individually. That is a ticket, not a game mechanic.
Why the answer is this blunt
Total loss is the design, not a failure state. Everything carried is at risk until extraction completes and the Trampler itself can be taken — including by other players, since capture came back on 2026-08-03. A game built on that premise does not usually ship a safety net, and this one has not announced any.
We would rather tell you that plainly than pad this page with recovery tricks nobody has confirmed. If the developer adds a compensation mechanic, it will show up in theupdate history and this page will change the same week.
